1968 Citroen Dyane Confort 602cc – Very rare early ‘Survivor’ with low owners, original paint & mechanically recommissioned.

We see plenty of restored classics, but what we rarely find are true ‘survivor’ cars; examples that haven’t been restored, still sitting in their original paint with all the patina and battle scars that go along with it – every dink and ding and patch of ‘patina’ tells a tale – and for that reason this car is extremely rare and (we think) completely charming.
Dyane’s were produced from 1967 to 1983, initially to replace the 2CV as the more advanced and expensive option, and for the height of motoring sophistication you could pay an extra 10%, or 615 Francs, for a range topping “Confort” model, giving you hubcaps, a spare wheel cradle under the bonnet and a slightly less basic interior.
Chassis number 7374130 “Confort” example is still wearing her original Bleu Camargue paint and as a rare early car has solid C-pillars without the extra windows – extremely difficult to find.
We are advised that she was bought new by a gentleman in France who used the car regularly for 20 years until he fell ill when it was parked and unused until 2021. Renowned Citroen specialist Gary Dicks of 2CV Imports then brought the car into the UK and the 2nd & 3rd UK keepers were husband and wife, giving this car a total of just 3 owners in all of its 56 years.
The UK owners embarked on a recommission, whilst thankfully retaining the wonderful original exterior. Recent works included replacing the wheels, tyres, brakes, clutch and an upgrade to a Harley Davidson coil. The interior was refreshed with reupholstered seats and a new ‘rag top’ fabric roof installed.
This wonderful, rare car ticks a lot of boxes; an early car, low owners, bags of originality, recommissioned, a pleasure to drive and a real head turner for any shows and meets; ready for rolling the top back and enjoying a spot of classic motoring this spring.
