Description
Finished in Black over Silver sills with a contrasting Crème interior, it’s been subject to a sympathetic colour change and re-sprayed to an excellent standard.
Running & driving with an MOT until March 2024 it has all the luxury, style and build quality you’d expect from a Merc of this era & with 104,000 miles under its belt is a low mileage example by Mercedes standards.
A rare sight on our roads now & it’s no wonder as Merc produced much lower numbers of the 420 SEC’s, with just 3,680 built compared to 30,184 of the 500’s, 28,929 of the 560’s & 11,267 380’s…..easy to see why the 420 is now the rarest example by a long, according to the DVLA there are only 69 examples currently licensed on UK roads with a further 152 examples SORN.
The electric windows, seats and mirrors are in good working order, but the electric tilt/slide sunroof will require some attention. Both Seat Belt Butlers are in good working order and the Crème leather interior, whilst showing some signs of age-related wear, is in good shape with some seam splits showing (please see photos), there ere are also some age-related marks to the veneers, but no apparent delamination and the headlining will require some attention due to the usual rear sagging.
They are the perfect GT – stylish, luxurious, comfortable and of course a superb drive, and with Merc’s ‘energy concept programme’ they improved fuel economy by a reported 25%. The aluminium V8’s are notoriously reliable and will go forever with basic maintenance, not surprisingly this is a relatively low mileage example by Mercedes standards.
