We use the phrase ‘Time-Warp Example’ a lot, but this car really is one……it’s covered just 14,884 miles in the 35 years since it rolled out of Longbridge, which equates to a staggering average of just 425 miles per year, and in reality its actually covered just 1,417 miles since 2011.

This range topping Vanden Plas is finished in Targa Red (original paint, obviously) with grey velour style interior (again, obviously) the condition is superb with no rips or tears to the interior whatsoever. The bodywork is solid showing no signs of corrosion, even in the usual places, and there is no cracking to the dash, steering wheel or gear stick/gaiter. Having been owned by one family, followed by a prominent BL collector, the car has always lived indoors and even has a VP fitted cover in her red & grey livery, accounting for the excellent condition of this rare rot free & low mileage survivor.

It’s a surprisingly lively and fun drive, starts on the button and runs smoothly up and down the 4 speed synchromesh gearbox as well as stopping sharp and straight, coping very well in modern traffic. It’s no coincidence that they are reminiscent of driving a Mini, launched in 1980 to replace the iconic Mini – epic fail, they were developed with many of the underpinnings borrowed from the mighty Mini such as the A- series 998cc & 1275cc engines, drivetrain, gearbox & subframe.

2. Carb strip & clean.
3. Distributor Cap.
4. Fitted new battery.
5. Minor Service.

MOT history starts in 2011 with mileage at 13,467 and shows MOT passes in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 – with the only failures during that time being a cut in a tyre & emissions.
